Q:Is this probe backwards compatible?
A:The 3300 NSv series is mechanically and electrically interchangeable with legacy 3300 RAM probe systems. If you are replacing a 3300 RAM probe, you can often reuse the existing extension cables and monitoring racks. Upgrading older 3000-series or 7000-series systems requires completely swapping out the probe, extension cable, and the Proximitor sensor.
Q:Can I use this probe on small shafts?
A:Yes, it is ideal for small targets. However, if the shaft diameter is under 13 mm (0.5 inches), expect changes in the scale factor. You may need to minimize error by tightening the target gap.
Q:What is the linear range and scale factor?
A:The probe system has an average scale factor of 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil), operating over a linear range of 0.25 mm to 1.75 mm (10 to 70 mils). Because it optimizes for tight side-views and small targets, its linear range is shorter than standard 5 mm or 8 mm proximity systems.
