Product Description:

The 190501-22-99-CN Velomitor CT Velocity Transducer is a low-frequency version of our standard Velomitor Piezo-velocity Sensor. Its design specifically measures casing vibration velocity on cooling tower and air-cooled heat-exchanger fan assemblies that operate at or above 90 rpm (100 to 300 rpm typical). The Velomitor CT Transducer can measure vibration amplitudes at these frequencies as well as the vibration frequencies generated by the fan motor and speed reducer.

Application:

Cooling Towers: It tracks heavy structural vibration on large cooling tower fans, preventing catastrophic cell structural damage caused by blade imbalance or tracking errors
Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers (Fin-Fans): Used to monitor individual air fin-fan assemblies in oil refineries and petrochemical installations, identifying problems in low-speed belt drives or gear couplers.
Industrial Fan Assemblies: Ideal for massive draft fans, HVAC air handlers, and ventilation systems running at lower rotational speeds where standard accelerometers generate high noise levels.
Slow-Speed Industrial Pumps: Installed on

Q:Where exactly should this transducer be mounted?
A:It must be stud-mounted directly onto the fan bearing housing or the speed reducer machine casing. Mounting surfaces must be flat and clean, with a minimum diameter of 33 mm.
Q:What happens if it is installed incorrectly?
A:Because it monitors low frequencies, improper installation or loose torquing will attenuate the low-frequency signals or generate false noise. Ensure it is tightened to the recommended torque spec of 4.5 N-m (40 in-lbf).

Q:Which machinery protection systems does it connect to?
A:It interfaces natively with Bently Nevada’s premier monitoring frameworks, including the 3500 Machinery Protection System (via the 3500/70M Velocity Monitor module) and the 1900/65A General Purpose Equipment Monitor.
