Product Description:
The Bently Nevada 330193-10-17-10-00 is an Extended Temperature Range (ETR) 8 mm Proximity Probe for non-contact vibration, phase reference, and shaft displacement monitoring. Operating on eddy current sensor technology, it is engineered specifically for heavy industrial machinery utilizing fluid-film bearings.The system provides an output voltage that is directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the observed conductive surface and can measure both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) values. The system’s primary applications are vibration and position measurements on fluid-film bearing machines, as well as Keyphasor reference and speed measurements.

Steam and Gas Turbines: Monitors continuous rotor shaft vibration, thermal growth, and axial (thrust) position.
Hydroelectric Generators: Tracks shaft radial vibration and structural alignment parameters under severe operational loads.
Centrifugal and Axial Compressors: Deployed in mission-critical process gas compressors to protect against catastrophic bearing failures.

Q:How does this sensor measure vibration without touching the machinery?
A:The system functions via the eddy current principle. A paired Proximitor sensor drives a high-frequency radio signal to the coil inside the probe tip. This creates a magnetic field. As the conductive metal shaft moves closer or farther away, it alters the field. The system translates this change into an explicit voltage signal proportional to the physical gap.
Q:What target material is this sensor calibrated to by default?
A:The probe is optimized from the factory for AISI 4140 steel. Target shafts made of different metals will alter the sensor's scale factor and require custom calibration.
Q:Can I run this 1.0-meter probe directly into a monitor?
A:A total system length must equal 5.0 or 9.0 meters to maintain calibration accuracy. Because this part features a 10 (1.0 meter) cable option, you must use a matching 3300 XL extensio.
