Product Description:
The Bently Nevada 330171-00-12-05-02-CN is a 3300 5 mm Proximity Probe for critical machinery protection and condition monitoring. By utilizing eddy current sensor technology, it measures physical gaps to track the behavior of moving rotor shafts within their fluid-film bearings.The 3300 5 mm probe improves upon previous designs. A patented TipLoc molding method provides a more robust bond between the probe tip and the probe body. The 3300 5 mm system is orderable with Fluidloc cable options for preventing oil and other liquids from leaking out of the machine through the cable’s interior.

Vibration Monitoring: Tracks radial vibration to detect rotor unbalance, shaft misalignment, or bearing wear early.
Axial Position: Measures thrust position to prevent catastrophic rotor-to-stator contact inside heavy machinery.
Centrifugal & Axial Compressors: Monitors high-speed shafts to prevent aerodynamic surges and mechanical failure.
Steam & Gas Turbines: Measures rotor vibration and thrust bearing wear during massive thermal expansions and high-speed operations.

Q:What is the normal gap voltage?
A:When properly installed, gapped, and centered within its linear range, a standard 3300/3300XL series proximity probe reads a normal gap voltage range of −9 V to −11 V DC. Significant deviations usually indicate an incorrect probe distance or physical misalignment.
Q:How does this probe function within a system?
A:The probe emits a high-frequency radio frequency (RF) signal from its tip. When a conductive metal target (like a rotating shaft) approaches, eddy currents are generated on the target's surface. This changes the amplitude of the RF signal. A matching Bently Nevada Proximitor Sensor translates this change into an output voltage directly proportional to the physical gap between the probe tip and the target.
Q:Can I mix and match system components?
A:Yes. The 3300 series is built with complete component interchangeability. The probe, extension cable, and Proximitor sensor can be swapped out without requiring specialized bench calibration or parts matching.
