The 2711P-RN6K module from is a conformally-coated communication module with DH+/DH-485 protocol support. It is compatible with 700, 1000, 1250, and 1500 series terminals from the PanelView Plus terminal family.

The Data Highway Plus (DH+) network is a network that is designed for messaging and remote programming between a controller and computers for factory-floor applications. The DH-485 protocol is also a protocol designed for factory-floor applications and it supports up to 32 devices per network segment. Conformal coating is the process of applying a non-conducting substance onto a device surface to protect it from corrosion, abrasion, moisture, fungus, and other environmental stresses. A conformal coating is a thin film which conforms to the profiles of an assembly and it leads to improved product life in corrosive environments.

It helps to maintain the long-term insulation resistance of a device surface and it ensures the operational integrity of the device assembly. Applications for conformally coated devices include mining, metal, tire and rubber, and pulp and paper applications.

The working temperature range for the 2711P-RN6K module is from 0 to 55 degrees Celsius. Unused modules should be kept in storage where the environmental temperature is between -25 and 70 degrees Celsius. The non-condensing relative humidity in the environment should be between 5 and 95%. To obtain performance according to the device specifications, the 2711P-RN6K module should be installed at altitudes of less than 2000 meters.

While replacing or installing a 2711P-RN6K module, the power to the terminal must be disconnected. Furthermore, to prevent ESD damage, the communication module should be touched to the logic module prior to making the connection in order to discharge static.
