Product Description:

The 24765-03-01 is a DC-powered casing expansion sensor assembly manufactured by Bently Nevada, belonging to the 24765 series casing expansion sensor system. Based on Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) technology, this product converts the thermal expansion displacement of the casing into an electrical signal through a mechanical connection between its probe and the machine casing. After electronic conditioning, the signal is output to the monitor for display and alarm processing.

Q:Why does the system output a negative voltage?
A:Legacy engineering choices from early solid-state development favored P-N-P transistors, which require negative bias voltages (typically a -24 VDC supply to the Proximitor). As the probe gap increases, the output voltage becomes more negative.
Q:Can I mix 5 mm and 8 mm components?
A:Yes, 3300 XL 8 mm components are both physically and electrically interchangeable with older non-XL 3300 5 mm components, provided the total system loop length matches.

Q:Can I use a 9.0-metre probe with any extension cable?
A:No. The Proximitor sensor is calibrated for a specific total electrical length (usually 5.0 or 9.0 metres). Since this probe has a total length of 9.0 metres, it must plug directly into a 9.0m Proximitor Sensor without using an extra extension cable. Adding an extension cable will ruin the system's calibration
