Product Description:

The 190501-21-99-04 Velomitor CT Velocity Transducer is a low-frequency version of our standard Velomitor Piezo-velocity Sensor. Its design specifically measures casing vibration velocity on cooling tower and air-cooled heat-exchanger fan assemblies that operate at or above 90 rpm (100 to 300 rpm typical). The Velomitor CT Transducer can measure vibration amplitudes at these frequencies as well as the vibration frequencies generated by the fan motor and speed reducer.

Cooling Tower Fan Assemblies: Tracking structural and casing vibration on low-speed cooling tower rotors to prevent catastrophic structural failures
Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers (Fin-Fans): Monitoring the large, low-RPM fan blades and assemblies common in petrochemical plants and refineries.
Industrial Speed Reducers & Gearboxes: Capturing low-frequency vibration mechanical anomalies (such as misalignments or gear mesh faults) linked to low-speed output shafts.
Large Fan Motors: Continually tracking rotor and casing vibration transmitted from slow-running drive motors.

Q:How do you verify or calibrate this sensor?
A:Because it is a low-frequency sensor, it must be verified using a portable shaker calibrator capable of stable lower-frequency sweeps (such as testing down to 120 or 90 cpm).
Q:What is the maximum recommended cable length?
A:The internal electronics support an unamplified cable run up to a maximum length of 305 meters (1,000 feet) back to the monitoring system.

Q:What torque should be applied during installation?
A:When mounting the base or its adapter to the machine housing, you must apply a mounting torque of 4.5 N-m ± 0.6 N-m (40 in-lbf ± 5 in-lbf). Over-torquing or improper mating surfaces can introduce high-frequency noise or signal distortion.
