Product Description:

The 190501-19-99-00 Velomitor CT Velocity Transducer is a low-frequency version of our standard Velomitor Piezo-velocity Sensor. Its design specifically measures casing vibration velocity on cooling tower and air-cooled heat-exchanger fan assemblies that operate at or above 90 rpm (100 to 300 rpm typical). The Velomitor CT Transducer can measure vibration amplitudes at these frequencies as well as the vibration frequencies generated by the fan motor and speed reducer.

Application:

Cooling Towers: Monitors slow-moving cooling tower fans, gearboxes, and motors operating down to 90 rpm.
Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers: Tracks vibration on large Fin-Fan units common in refineries and chemical plants.
Paper Mills: Monitors slow-velocity roller bearings and suction roll assemblies.
Water Treatment Plants: Used on large, low-speed wet well pumps, agitators, and mixing equipment.

Q:How does a Velomitor differ from a traditional moving-coil velocity sensor?
A:Traditional velocity sensors rely on a moving coil suspended by springs, which suffers from mechanical wear and tear over time. The Velomitor CT is a solid-state, piezoelectric accelerometer with internal integration circuitry that converts acceleration into a clean velocity output, resulting in zero moving parts to wear out.
Q:What does "CT" stand for in the Velomitor CT?
A:CT stands for Cooling Tower. While standard velocity sensors are tuned for higher speeds, the 190501 Velomitor CT is specifically designed to handle the low-frequency vibrations generated by slow-moving cooling tower fans and air-cooled heat exchangers (ACHEs).

Q:What is the maximum vibration amplitude it can measure?
A:The sensor has a peak velocity range of 63.5 mm/s pk (2.5 in/s pk). High-frequency vibrations exceeding 10g peak above 1 kHz can reduce this range.
