Product Description:

The Bently Nevada 190501-15-00-04 is a specific configuration of the Velomitor CT (Cooling Tower) Velocity Transducer, a low-frequency version of the standard Velomitor Piezo-velocity Sensor. Its design specifically measures casing vibration velocity on cooling tower and air-cooled heat-exchanger fan assemblies that operate at or above 90 rpm (100 to 300 rpm typical). The Velomitor CT Transducer can measure vibration amplitudes at these frequencies as well as the vibration frequencies generated by the fan motor and speed reducers.

Q:How can you test or calibrate the low-frequency response?
A:Field loop checks cannot be accurately completed using traditional high-frequency shakers. Testing must be performed using a specialized low-frequency portable vibration calibrator capable of driving verification profiles as low as 42 cpm to ensure alerts and alarms are functional.
Q:How do you mount and torque this sensor?
A:The mounting surface requires a 33 mm (1.3 in) diameter flat area. You must apply a mounting torque of 4.5 N-m ± 0.6 N-m (40 in–lbf ± 5 in-lbf). Incorrect torque will compromise frequency response or cause false readings.

Q:Which monitoring systems are compatible with this transducer?
A:It is fully compatible with Bently Nevada 3500 Machinery Protection Systems via the 3500/42M Proximitor Seismic Monitor module. For newer Orbit 60 systems, Bently Nevada recommends using the PAV (Position/Acceleration/Velocity) module rather than the PVT module to safely match the sensor's power limit constraints.
