Product Description:

The Bently Nevada 190501-07-00-04 Velomitor CT Transducer is a low-frequency version of our standard Velomitor Piezo-velocity Sensor. Its design specifically measures casing vibration velocity on cooling tower and air-cooled heat-exchanger fan assemblies that operate at or above 90 rpm (100 to 300 rpm typical).

Application:

Cooling Tower Fan Assemblies: Measures structural casing and gearbox vibrations induced by heavy, low-RPM fan blades in commercial and industrial HVAC and process systems.
Air-Cooled Heat-Exchangers (Fin-Fans): Monitors high-stress, low-frequency vibrations generated across massive fan assemblies used in cooling petrochemical components.
Gear-Driven Fan Systems: Captures unique vibration signatures stemming from both the high-speed fan motor and the slow-speed, torque-heavy speed reducer.
Slow-Speed Industrial Rotating Machinery: Validates structural health on specialized processing equipment operating within the 100 to 300 RPM window.

Q:What is the minimum operating speed (RPM) this sensor can monitor?
A:The sensor is explicitly optimized for low-speed machinery operating as low as 90 RPM (or Cycles Per Minute / CPM). This accommodates slow-turning machinery like cooling tower fans and air-cooled heat exchangers.
Q:What torque must be applied when mounting the sensor?
A:The sensor must be tightened to exactly 4.5 N·m ± 0.6 N·m (40 in·lbf ± 5 in·lbf). Under-torquing reduces high-frequency signal transmission, while over-torquing can damage the internal piezoelectric crystal assembly.

Q:Can this sensor be mounted sideways or upside down?
A:Yes, it supports any orientation (0° to 360°). Note that the internal signal polarity dictates that Pin A goes positive relative to Pin B when mechanical velocity moves from the sensor base toward the top cap.
