The 1746-N2 is a slot filler that includes an unused I/O slot in the chassis; it prevents a defect in the backplane by helping to keep debris from falling into the slot.

This product also protects unused slots in the chassis from dust. After being tested by applying the security requirements EN 61131-2 Programmable Controllers, Part 2 - Equipment Requirements and Testing, the 1746-N2 is ensured to meet Directive 73/23/EEC of the Low Voltage Directive Board.

The 1746-N2 is suitable for use in Class I, Division 2, Group A, B, C, D, and non-hazardous locations only. Before installing or removing a module, take care to disconnect from the SLC 500 system and from other sources to the module (in other words, do not "hot swap" any module), and disconnect all devices connected to the module. Failure to heed precautions may result in the destruction of equipment.
