Product Description:

The 330709-000-050-10-12-05 3300 XL 11 mm Proximity Probes has a 3.94 V/mm (100 mV/mil) output for non-contacting vibration and displacement measurements on fluid film bearing machines. The large 11 mm tip enables this transducer system to have a longer linear range compared to our standard 3300 XL 8 mm Transducer System. The 3300 XL 11 mm Proximitor Sensor is designed to replace the 7200-series 11 mm and 14 mm Transducer Systems.

Application:

Steam and Gas Turbines: Monitors ramp differential expansion (the relative thermal growth between the rotor and the turbine casing) and thrust position.
Reciprocating Compressors: Ideal for rod position or rod drop measurements to track rider band wear on the pistons
Large Hydroelectric Generators: Measures low-frequency radial vibration, structural displacement, and shaft centerline tracking.
Industrial Pumps and Fans: Continuously monitors shaft alignment, axial drift, and radial vibration to prevent catastrophic mechanical failure.

Q:What system does this probe connect to?
A:This probe connects via a 1.0-meter cable to an extension cable, which then wires into a 3300 XL 11 mm Proximitor Sensor. It is important to note that the entire loop length (probe + extension cable) must match the requirements of the Proximitor sensor (typically balanced for 5.0-meter or 9.0-meter total system lengths).
Q:How does this probe measure vibration?
A:It operates on the eddy current principle. The Proximitor sensor sends a radio frequency signal to the coil inside the probe tip, creating a magnetic field. As a conductive target moves closer or further away, it alters the field, causing a change in voltage proportional to the gap distance.

Q:What are the target material requirements?
A:Standard calibration for the Bently Nevada 3300 XL system expects a target made of AISI 4140 steel. Using any other alloy target will alter the system accuracy and voltage-to-gap sensitivity curve unless the system is specifically custom-calibrated.
