Product Description:

The standard Bently Nevada 330103-00-02-20-02-05 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probes also fully complies with the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) 670 Standard for mechanical configuration, linear range, accuracy, and temperature stability. All 3300 XL 8 mm proximity transducer systems provide this level of performance and support complete interchangeability of probes, extension cables, and Proximitor sensors, eliminating the need to match or bench calibrate individual components.

Application:

Steam and Gas Turbines: Monitors continuous axial shaft position (thrust) and radial vibration to prevent catastrophic rotor-to-stator contact.
Centrifugal and Axial Compressors: Tracks shaft stability, fluid-film bearing health, and oil-film instabilities like oil whirl or whip.
Power Generation Equipment: Installed on large generators and exciters to monitor rotational dynamics, imbalances, and structural misalignments.
Industrial Pumps and Fans: Ensures high-energy process pumps and critical ventilation fans in continuous-operation plants operate within safety tolerances.

A:It measures the gap change between the probe tip and a target conductive surface (typically AISI 4140 steel). This dynamic tracking measures radial shaft vibration, axial thrust position, and machine speed (Keyphasor) on fluid-film bearing equipment like turbines and compressors.
Q:What are the physical properties of the cable and tip?
A:The tip is molded from high-durability Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) plastics. The internal connections utilize the Baker Hughes Bently Nevada patented TipLoc and CableLoc molding, which guarantees a high-grade mechanical bond capable of resisting up to 330 N (75 lbf) of cable pull strength.

Q:Can this probe be used in fluid-heavy environments?
A:Yes, the probe body houses a integrated Viton O-ring to form a barrier against differential pressure. However, if your setup features extensive oil exposure, using the optional FluidLoc version is highly recommended to block oil from wicking into the inner layers of the cable shielding.
