Product Description:
The Bently Nevada 190501-21-00-00 is a specific configuration of the Velomitor CT (cooling tower) velocity sensor. This is a rugged, low-frequency piezoelectric vibration sensor.The Velomitor CT velocity sensor is a low-frequency version of the standard Velomitor piezoelectric velocity sensor, specifically designed to measure the casing vibration velocity of cooling towers and air-cooled heat exchanger fan assemblies, which typically operate at speeds not less than 90 rpm (typically ranging from 100 to 300 rpm). The sensor can measure vibration amplitude within this frequency range, and can also detect vibration frequencies generated by the fan motor and reducer.
Application:
Pulp and Paper Agitators: Monitors low-speed mixing, pulping, and large drum rollers that exhibit low-frequency vibration signatures.
Industrial Wastewater Pumps & Aerators: Tracks heavy structural vibration in low-speed water treatment machinery and municipal processing centers.
Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers (Fin-Fans): Found in petrochemical processing and upstream oil and gas production to track physical casing degradation in overhead fin-fan assemblies.
Cooling Towers: Used across oil refineries, chemical plants, and power generation facilities to monitor massive, slow-spinning cooling tower fan assemblies.

Q:Does it require external power?
A:Yes. The internal piezoelectric electronics require a constant current source to operate, typically 3.3 mA to 5 mA provided directly by a paired continuous monitoring system, such as a Bently Nevada 3500 Machinery Protection System rack with a Prox/Velom I/O module.
Q:Why is mounting torque critical during installation?
A:Improper installation will alter the sensor’s frequency response or create false data. The transducer must be mounted to a clean, flat surface of at least 33 mm in diameter and torqued exactly to 4.5 N-m ± 0.6 N-m (40 in-lbf ± 5 in-lbf).
Q:How does it differ from a standard Velomitor?
A:The 190501 model is a specialized low-frequency version of the standard 330500 Velomitor. While a standard Velomitor tracks higher-speed machinery, the CT version extends down to 1.5 Hz (90 CPM) to capture the slow, heavy vibrations generated by large fan blades and their associated speed reducers.
