Product Description:

The 190501-17-99-04 Velomitor CT Velocity Transducer is a low-frequency version of our standard Velomitor Piezo-velocity Sensor. Its design specifically measures casing vibration velocity on cooling tower and air-cooled heat-exchanger fan assemblies that operate at or above 90 rpm (100 to 300 rpm typical). The Velomitor CT Transducer can measure vibration amplitudes at these frequencies as well as the vibration frequencies generated by the fan motor and speed reducer.

Oil & Gas / Petrochemical: Refineries, offshore production platforms, and chemical processing facilities.
Power Generation: Coal-fired, combined-cycle, and hydroelectric plants.
Heavy Manufacturing: Pulp and paper mills, steel mills, and mineral processing/mining plants
Slow-Speed Industrial Drives: Monitoring structural stress and imbalance on the large motors and speed reducers (gearboxes) connected to low-RPM machinery.

A:Yes, up to a maximum continuous system distance of 305 meters (1,000 feet) without experiencing signal degradation. However, the additional cable run must match the original 20 AWG twisted-shielded pair specifications to maintain explosion-proof certifications.
Q:What is the primary difference between a standard Velomitor and this CT model?
A:The Velomitor CT features a frequency response shifted downward to capture low-speed fan anomalies. While standard velocity sensors struggle below 10 Hz, the 190501 safely records frequencies down to 1.5 Hz to 1.0 kHz (±3.0 dB), optimized for slow-turning cooling tower rotors running between 100 to 300 RPM.

Q:How low of a rotation speed can it monitor?
A:Unlike standard velocity sensors that require higher operational speeds, the Velomitor CT is custom-engineered to monitor slow-turning fans operating down to 90 rpm.
