Product Description:
The Bently Nevada 190501-17-00-04 is a specialized, low-frequency Velomitor CT (Cooling Tower) Velocity Transducer. It is designed specifically to measure casing vibration velocity on slow-moving equipment running at or above 90 RPM, such as cooling tower fans and air-cooled heat exchangers.The Velomitor CT Velocity Transducer is a low-frequency version of our standard Velomitor Piezo-velocity Sensor. Its design specifically measures casing vibration velocity on cooling tower and air-cooled heat-exchanger fan assemblies that operate at or above 90 rpm (100 to 300 rpm typical). The Velomitor CT Transducer can measure vibration amplitudes at these frequencies as well as the vibration frequencies generated by the fan motor and speed reducer.

Industrial Cooling Towers: Large-scale cooling towers used in petrochemical plants, oil refineries, and power generation facilities.
Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers (Fin-Fans): Forced-draft or induced-draft "fin-fan" assemblies common in upstream oil & gas processing, midstream pipelines, and chemical plants.
Low-Speed Industrial Fans & Blowers:Large induced draft (ID) fans, forced draft (FD) fans, and heavy-duty ventilation blowers across paper mills, steel plants, and mining facilities.
Slow-Speed Pumps & Reduction Gearboxes:Large-scale water intake pumps, wastewater treatment agitators, and the low-speed side of industrial speed reducers.

Q:How should the sensor be oriented during installation?
A:The sensor can be mounted at any orientation or angle. However, it must be rigidly coupled to the machine casing using the specified mounting torque of 4.5 N-m ± 0.6 N-m (40 in-lbf) to prevent high-frequency signal distortion.
Q:What type of cabling and maximum length is supported?
A:It uses a 2-wire shielded twisted-pair cable connected via a standard 2-pin MIL-C-5015 plug. The system supports a maximum cable run of up to 305 meters (1,000 feet) without experiencing signal degradation.
Q:How do you verify or calibrate this transducer?
A:Because it is a low-frequency sensor, standard shaker tables cannot accurately calibrate it. It should be verified using a specialized low-frequency portable calibrator—such as The Modal Shop Model 9210D—which can test down to the actual running speed of the cooling tower fan.
