Product Description:

The Bently Nevada 190501-15-99-01 Velomitor CT velocity sensor is a piezoelectric velocity sensor designed for low-frequency applications, representing a low-frequency version of the standard Velomitor sensor. This sensor is specifically designed for measuring the casing vibration velocity of cooling towers and air-cooled heat exchanger fan components, and is suitable for low-speed rotating equipment operating at 90 rpm and above (typical range 100–300 rpm).

Q:Can I swap this sensor without recalibrating my monitoring system?
A:Yes, in most cases. Because it outputs the industry-standard 100 mV/in/s sensitivity, it is a direct drop-in replacement for standard velocity configurations. Your existing alarm setpoints, configuration profiles, and full-scale ranges within systems like the Bently Nevada 3500 remain valid. Performing a post-installation functional check is still standard practice.
Q:How should the sensor be oriented during installation?
A:The transducer supports a maximum field cable length of up to 305 metres (1,000 feet) without any signal degradation.The transducer can be mounted in any physical orientation (vertical, horizontal, or inverted). However, it must be rigidly fixed directly onto the bearing housing or machine casing.

Q:What is the proper torque specification for mounting?
A:It should be torqued to 4.5 N-m ± 0.6 N-m (40 in-lbf ± 5 in-lbf). Under-torquing reduces the frequency response accuracy, while over-torquing can permanently damage the internal piezo-electric crystal or the mounting threads.
