Product Description:

The Bently Nevada 190501-13-00-04 is a dedicated two-wire, loop-powered configuration of the Velomitor CT (Cooling Tower) Velocity Transducer. As a low-frequency adaptation of the standard Velomitor Piezo-velocity Sensor, this transducer is purpose-built for measuring casing vibration velocity on cooling tower and air-cooled heat-exchanger fan assemblies operating at rotational speeds of 90 rpm or higher, with typical applications falling within the 100 to 300 rpm range. In addition to capturing vibration amplitudes at these low fundamental frequencies, the Velomitor CT Transducer is equally capable of detecting the higher-frequency vibration components generated by the fan motor and speed reducer.

Q: Is it an accelerometer or a velocity sensor?
A:It is a piezo-velocity sensor. Internally, it features an accelerometer mechanism combined with an embedded electronic integrator. This design allows it to measure acceleration natively but output a clean, stable velocity signal directly to your monitoring system.
Q:Can I integrate the output signal directly into a PLC/DCS analog input card?
A:No, not directly. The Velomitor CT utilizes a constant-current loop system. It requires an external power source or matching monitor module to supply a bias current. Connecting it directly to a standard, unconditioned 4-20mA analog PLC card will not work and may throw a sensor fault.

Q: Can the sensor be mounted at an angle?
A:Yes. The 190501 can be installed at any orientation (vertical, horizontal, or inverted) without affecting its baseline low-frequency sensitivity profiles.
