Product Description:

The Bently Nevada 190501-11-99-01 Velomitor CT speed sensor is a low-frequency piezoelectric speed sensor designed for cooling tower and air-cooled heat exchanger fan assemblies. It is suitable for equipment with speeds ranging from 90 RPM (1.5 Hz) to 300 RPM (5 Hz) and can simultaneously measure these low-frequency operating frequencies as well as high-frequency vibrations generated by the fan motor and reducer. Its operating frequency range is 1.5 Hz to 1000 Hz.

Power Generation Plants:Cooling tower fan assemblies, air-cooled heat exchangers (ACHE), and large water intake pumps.
Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Refining:Wet cooling towers, fin-fan heat exchangers used in distillation, and slow-speed processing pumps.
Chemical and Fertilizer Processing:Induced-draft and forced-draft fans, large chemical agitators, and mixing basins.
Pulp & Paper and Water Treatment Facilities:Aeration basin fans, wastewater pumps, large industrial blowers, and paper machine dryer section ventilation systems.

Q:Why use a Velomitor "CT" version instead of a standard Velomitor?
A:Standard velocity sensors often filter out or struggle to cleanly capture very low-frequency mechanical signals. The "CT" (Cooling Tower) variant is specially tuned to handle the 100 to 300 rpm range common to fan blades and speed reducers, providing clean low-end data without the noise tracking limitations of general-purpose sensors.
Q:Do I need to recalibrate my monitor system if I replace an older Velomitor CT with this unit?
A:No. Because the core sensitivity remains standard at 100 mV/in/s, it is completely pin-compatible with legacy hardware. Existing alarm thresholds and full-scale range configurations on your Bently Nevada 3500 or 1900-series monitors will remain valid. A routine functional verification loop check is recommended upon installation.

Q:What torque should be used to mount the transducer?
A:The sensor should be tightened down to 4.5 N-m ± 0.6 N-m (40 in-lbf ± 5 in-lbf). Proper torque is critical; under-tightening limits the high-frequency response, while over-tightening can crack the internal piezo-electric crystals.
