Product Description:

The 190501-04-99-04 Velomitor CT Velocity Transducer is a low-frequency version of our standard Velomitor Piezo-velocity Sensor. Its design specifically measures casing vibration velocity on cooling tower and air-cooled heat-exchanger fan assemblies that operate at or above 90 rpm (100 to 300 rpm typical). The Velomitor CT Transducer can measure vibration amplitudes at these frequencies as well as the vibration frequencies generated by the fan motor and speed reducer.

Application:

Industrial Cooling Towers: Monitors mechanical drafts, crossflow, and counterflow towers. It tracks slow-speed fan assemblies to detect rotor and blade issues before catastrophic failure
Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers (Fin-Fans): Widely used across oil refineries, chemical processing plants, and power generating stations where liquid processing relies heavily on large fan arrays for heat dissipation.
Fan Motors: Captures structural and electrical vibrations passing through the motor casing.
Speed Reducers / Gearboxes: Detects early gear mesh problems or bearing defects within the low-speed gearboxes.

Q:What makes the Velomitor "CT" version different from a standard Velomitor?
A:The "CT" designation stands for Cooling Tower. Unlike the standard Bently Nevada 330500 Velomitor, the 190501 has its frequency range adjusted downward to measure low-velocity vibration. This makes it perfect for cooling tower fans and slow-moving machinery operating down to 90 rpm.
Q:How should the sensor be mounted?
A:The sensor must be torqued to 4.5 N-m ± 0.6 N-m (40 in–lbf ± 5 in-lbf) during installation. Operating or mounting the transducer outside of these parameters will lead to false readings or tracking dropouts.

Q:How is the wiring polarity configured?
A:The 190501 utilizes a two-wire system where Pin A is positive relative to Pin B. The voltage shifts positive when the direction of machinery velocity moves from the base toward the top of the transducer.
