Product Description:

The Bently Nevada 190501-02-00-01 is a Velomitor CT (cooling tower) velocity sensor designed for low-frequency vibration monitoring of cooling towers and air-cooled heat exchanger fan assemblies. The Velomitor CT velocity sensor is a low-frequency version of the standard Velomitor piezoelectric velocity sensor. It is specifically designed for measuring the casing vibration velocity of cooling towers and air-cooled heat exchanger fan assemblies operating at speeds not less than 90 rpm (typically 100–300 rpm). This sensor can detect not only the vibration amplitude corresponding to the above speeds but also the vibration frequency generated by the fan motor and reducer.

Q:What is the polarity of the pins?
A:The electrical system uses a 2-pin top connector. Pin A goes positive relative to Pin B when the measured machine vibration moves axially from the base toward the top of the transducer.
Q:Can I use a long cable run with this transducer?
A:Yes. The maximum continuous length of standard cable without signal degradation is 305 meters (1,000 feet). However, the factory maximum continuous unspliced spool is 91.44 meters (300 feet); longer runs require an inline connector or field splice.

Q:How do you verify or calibrate this device in the field?
A:Because it functions at low frequencies, standard portable shakers may not accurately test its low-end range. You can use field calibration tools like the Model 9210D Low-Frequency Portable Vibration Calibrator to conduct loop checks down to running speeds as low as 42 CPM to verify alerts and alarms.
