Product Description:
The 190501-01-00-000 is the Bently Nevada Velomitor CT velocity sensor, specifically designed for measuring the vibration velocity of casings in low-speed, heavy-duty industrial fan and cooling applications. The Velomitor CT velocity sensor is a low-frequency version of the standard Velomitor piezoelectric velocity sensor. Its design is specifically tailored for measuring the casing vibration velocity of fan assemblies in cooling towers and air-cooled heat exchangers, which operate at speeds of 90 rpm and above (typically 100 to 300 rpm). The Velomitor CT sensor can measure not only the vibration amplitude corresponding to these speeds but also the vibration frequency generated by the fan motor and reducer.
Application:
Cooling Towers: Monitoring the mechanical drive systems, structural vibration, and casing health of large cooling tower fan assemblies.
Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers (Fin-Fans): Tracking vibration profiles on air-cooler fans used in heavy processing environments.
Industrial Fan Assemblies: Measuring low-frequency casing vibration generated by large industrial HVAC, ventilation, or exhaust fans.
Slow-Speed Rotating Equipment: Detecting common machine faults—such as unbalance, structural misalignment, and speed reducer malfunctions—on low-RPM rotors, motors, and gearboxes.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q:What is the primary application for this sensor?
A:It specifically measures casing vibration velocity on cooling towers and air-cooled heat exchangers. It targets slow-moving fan assemblies operating between 100 to 300 rpm (and can read down to 90 rpm). It captures low frequencies from the fan blades while simultaneously reading higher frequency vibrations from the fan motor and gearbox.
Q:How does it differ from a standard Velomitor?
A:It is a low-frequency version of the standard Bently Nevada 330500 Velomitor. Standard models filter out extreme low-end rumble, whereas the CT version expands its reach downward to accommodate low-speed cooling tower shafts.
Q:What are the rules for proper physical installation?
A:The transducer must be stud-mounted flat against a 33 mm (1.3 in) diameter smoothed surface. You must torque it exactly to 4.5 N-m ± 0.6 N-m (40 in-lbf ± 5 in-lbf). Inaccurate mounting, gaps, or loose threads will cause signal loss, attenuation, or false high-frequency spikes.
