Product Description:
The Bently Nevada 177230-01-01-05 is a loop-powered Seismic Transmitter paired with the 16925-34 non-armored interface cable. It translates absolute machine casing vibration into an industry-standard 4-20 mA current loop signal. The 177230 Seismic Transmitter is a simple, loop-powered device that can be quickly and easily installed. It can be integrated into your programmable logic controller (PLC) or controls system linked to a plant asset condition monitoring solution. The transducer helps you better manage downtime, optimize maintenance planning, and avoid unforeseen catastrophic failures of machinery assets.

Industrial Pumps & Fans: Monitors structural imbalances, shaft misalignments, or early mechanical looseness in centrifugal fluid pumps, cooling tower fans, and air-handling units.
Centrifugal & Screw Compressors: Provides continuous casing protection on localized plant air systems and process gas compressors.
Electric Motors: Tracks deterioration in stator/rotor balance and sleeve or ball-bearing wear profiles.

Q:How is the device wired to a control system?
A:The transmitter uses a 3-pin MIL-C-5015 connector. It acts as a standard loop-powered instrument: Pin A connects to the positive supply power (12-30 VDC), and Pin B serves as the 4-20 mA return loop back to your analog input card.
Q:Does this transmitter require regular calibration?
A:No. The device is factory-calibrated and requires no field adjustments, setup software, or configuration. It features an integrated self-test circuit to quickly verify operational readiness during standard maintenance loops.
Q:What mounting safety precautions should be taken?
A:The device usually mounts directly to a machine casing via a 1/4-28 UNF thread stud. If temporary diagnostic testing requires a magnetic base, do not snap the transmitter onto the metal surface. The sharp shock profile can generate an massive signal spike that may permanently damage the internal ceramic/shear sensing element. Always roll the magnetic base gently onto the machine.
