The Bently Nevada 128987-130-02-05 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Sensor is part of the 3300 XL 25 mm Transducer System, engineered for differential expansion (DE) measurement in mid-size to large steam turbine generators. It delivers a linear range of 12.7 mm (500 mils) with an output of 0.787 V/mm (20 mV/mil), ensuring reliable monitoring of axial movement caused by rotor and stator expansion differences.

This sets the probe exactly in the center of its linear range, allowing the machinery to safely flex or vibrate between its structural thresholds of -2V and -18V without clipping the sensor's signal.
Q:Can I mix and match components with this part?

You can replace individual probes, extension cables, or Proximitor sensors of identical electrical lengths (5-meter layouts) without performing a manual bench re-calibration of the hardware.
Q:How does the sensor principle work?
A:The system utilizes the eddy current principle. A matched Proximitor sensor drives a low-power Radio Frequency (RF) signal through the extension cable directly to a tiny coil embedded inside the tip. When a metallic, conductive shaft approaches this tip, it intercepts the electromagnetic field and induces eddy currents. The system detects the resulting power loss and transforms it into an output voltage precisely proportional to the gap.
