Q:What are the recommended gap voltage settings?
A:The target linear operation begins roughly 0.25 mm (10 mils) away from the shaft surface. For generic radial vibration applications, the engineering standard is to set the initial probe gap to -9 Vdc, which translates to approximately 1.27 mm (50 mils) of physical distance.

Q:What target material is required for accurate calibration?
A:By default, the Bently Nevada system is precision-calibrated to a Bently Nevada AISI 4140 steel target. Utilizing alternative shaft metals without recalibrating the accompanying Proximitor sensor will degrade system accuracy.
