Product Description:
The Bently Nevada 177230-01-01-05 is a loop-powered seismic vibration transmitter commonly paired with the 16710-12 multi-conductor, shielded interconnect cable assembly. This system directly tracks casing vibration velocity on non-critical rotating machinery such as pumps, motors, and fans. The 177230 Seismic Transmitter is a simple, loop-powered device that can be quickly and easily installed. It can be integrated into your programmable logic controller (PLC) or control system linked to a plant asset condition monitoring solution. Its simple design reduces training, maintenance, and service costs.
Application:
Fin-Fan Air Coolers: Monitors heat exchanger air coolers where blade imbalances or structural loose fittings often occur.
Reciprocating & Centrifugal Pumps: Tracks auxiliary process pumps carrying hydrocarbons, water, or chemicals.
Small Compressors: Evaluates vibration on auxiliary air or gas compressors where dedicated proximity probe racks are not economically practical.
Roll & Conveyor Drives: Captures early signs of rolling element bearing fatigue in heavy-duty conveyor systems and paper mill rollers.

Q:Why is there a large vibration spike recorded during machine startup?
A:Transient spikes at startup are normal. They are caused by high initial motor inrush currents and sudden structural deflections. If the reading stabilizes once the machinery hits operating speed, your transmitter is functioning normally.
Q:What is the settling time after applying loop power?
A:The transmitter requires less than 15 seconds to settle within 2% of its final accurate output value.
Q:Can this system handle wet or hazardous chemical environments?
A:Yes. The transmitter casing is sealed using 316L rust-proof stainless steel. It handles up to 100% non-submerged relative humidity across a temperature envelope of -40°C to +85°C. The 16710 armored cable further protects wires from physical crushing, cuts, and severe electromagnetic interference (EMI).
