The specifications for the Quantum hardware for the Modicon controller module 140 CPU 424 02 are a max IEC program of 570 K, an SRAM size of 2 M, and 1.8 A of bus current required. 

The front of the 140 CPU 424 02 CPU has the part module number and description which is color-coded. The area directly beneath the part number is the LED placement. The 140 CPU 424 02 CPU has a removable door with a customer identification label beneath the LED area. Under the door flap, is where you will find the connections and the battery placement.  The battery placement is inside the middle section. Directly under the battery are two slots for memory protection and comm parameter slide switches. There are three connectors beneath the slide switch location.

The Modbus module has one (1) serial port (9-pin D-shell), and the Modbus Plus has (2) two redundant network ports (9-pin D shell).  The power-up diagnostics are RAM, RAM address, Executive checksum, User Logic Check, and processor. The Runtime diagnostics are RAM, RAM address, Executive Checksum, and user logic check.  The bus current required for the Modicon 140 CPU 424 02 is 1.8 A. The power dispensation is 9 W., and the TOD clock is +/- 8.0 seconds/day 0 ... 60 ° C.The max number of NOM, NOE, and MMS modules connections is 6. Any combination of NOM, NOE, and MMS modules can be used.

The LED descriptions are as follows. Green will indicate the CPU has passed the power-up diagnostics and is ready. It will stay green for starting and solving logic in RUN mode. Green also indicates communications are active on Modbus as well as Modbus Plus. The Amber color indicates memory is write-protected. The red indicator has Error A and Error B.  Error A indicates the redundant Modbus Plus port A has a communications error. Error B indicates the redundant Modus Plus port B has a communications error.

The 140 CPU 424 02 controller module has a max of 64 k in and 64 k out words on the local I/O backplane. The max number of I/O racks is 2 with a required expander. The remote I/O has a max I/O of 64 in and 64 out words per drop and 31 max number of remote drops. The distributed I/O has a max of 3 remote drops which requires the use of the 140NOM2x00 Option Module. The distributed I/O has a max of 500 in and 500 out words per network.
