Description

The Woodward 8280-192 is a 701A digital speed control designed for reciprocating engines equipped with a magnetic pickup (MPU) speed sensor. The control operates from an 18–40 Vdc power supply and delivers a 0–200 mA actuator output for electronic governor applications. It measures engine speed from the magnetic pickup input and adjusts actuator current to maintain the programmed operating speed under changing load conditions. The controller includes configurable operating parameters for speed setting, droop, torque limiting, start fuel, idle speed, and dynamic response. Remote speed adjustment is available through a 4–20 mA input, while a 4–20 mA tachometer output can be used for external monitoring equipment. Programming and parameter adjustment are completed with the compatible Woodward hand-held programmer without requiring hardware modifications.
