IC698ETM001 General Electric ethernet interface

IC698ETM001 is an Ethernet interface module manufactured by GE Fanuc to provide high performance Ethernet communications for RX7i control systems. It has an Ethernet processing speed of 200 MHz. Operating voltage is +5 VDC from the power supply, and current drain is 1.5 (+5 VDC) max. The IC698ETM001 also provides TCP/IP communications with other GE Intelligent Platforms control systems and host computers with software for Ethernet communications to GE Intelligent Platforms controllers.

Select features of IC698ETM001 include provision of full configuration and programming services as well as intermittent data exchange via Ethernet Global Data (EGD). This module offers EGD Class 2 functionality, or commands, and Reliable Data Service (RDS) to ensure command messages are communicated correctly. The module is equipped with comprehensive station management as well as diagnostic tools and extended connectivity. Full-duplex ports provide auto-negotiated network speed and crossover detection due to an internal network switch.

The IC698ETM001 module’s redundant IP addressing permits an individual IP address to be assigned to two Ethernet modules in two different controllers. The address is configured in addition to the original IP address for each interface. The active unit Ethernet interface is the only one that can use the redundant IP. Note: The user must confirm that the gateway IP address is configured.

Flash memory stores protocol in the Ethernet interface and is conveniently upgraded using the CPU serial port. Communications with remote controllers and other nodes are possible via routers. This module is equipped with status LEDs to assist in operation and troubleshooting. 

The IC698ETM001 Ethernet Interface Module belongs to the GE Fanuc Versamax family of products. It can be used for providing efficient and high-performance Ethernet communication facilities for the RX7i series control systems. Some of the important features of the module include TCP/IP communication services, SRTP client support, extended connectivity with IEEE and Ethernet LAN ports, programming and configuration services, periodic data exchange, and an EGD Class 2 functionality rating. The IC698ETM001 Ethernet Interface Module comes with 5 LED indicators to indicate the status of the module’s operation and communication. The communication protocol of the Ethernet interface module is stored in flash memory which can be upgraded via the CPU serial port.

This module offers comprehensive station management and diagnostic tools for enhanced performance and easy troubleshooting. Its duplex mode, network speed, and crossover detection features are handled by 2 full-duplex RJ-45 connectors. The mounting method for the module is rack mounting. It allows for the daisy-chaining of Ethernet nodes.

 The operating temperature range of the IC698ETM001 module is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. It has 2 auto-sensing shielded Ethernet ports with an 8-pin female, RJ-45 connector. This module can be directly connected to a Base T, twisted pair network hub without an external transceiver. It establishes communication with nodes and remote controllers through the router. The approximate weight of the device is 0.34 kilograms.
