Description

The ABB RAI02J is a redundant analog input module for the Symphony Plus SD Series I/O platform. The module accepts up to 16 group-isolated analog input channels, with each channel configured independently for either 4–20 mA current signals or 1 to +5 VDC voltage signals. This arrangement allows different field instruments to be connected within the same module while maintaining individual channel configuration. Each input channel is processed through the module's analog-to-digital conversion system, with selectable 12- to 16-bit resolution and a complete refresh of all 16 channels every 100 ms. When operating in current mode, the module supports HART Version 5.4 communication, making secondary HART variables available to the control system. One HART modem is integrated into each module, with support for up to 24 secondary variables, up to four for each input channel. The RAI02J operates from a 24 VDC power supply and incorporates group isolation between field signals and the control system. Current inputs include short-circuit protection with a maximum current limit of 96 mA, while open-circuit conditions can also be detected during operation.
