Description

The ABB AI02J is a 16-channel analog input module for the ABB Ability™ Symphony® Plus SD Series I/O platform. It is designed to process high-level analog field signals, with each channel independently configurable for either 4–20 mA current or 1–5 VDC voltage inputs. The module supports flexible signal acquisition for a wide range of industrial process control applications while allowing individual channel configuration through the Symphony Plus engineering tools. The module features a single A/D converter capable of updating all 16 input channels within 100 ms. Its analog-to-digital conversion resolution is configurable from 12 to 16 bits with polarity, providing accurate measurement of field signals. In current input mode, the AI02J supports HART® Version 5.4 communication, enabling access to up to 24 secondary HART variables per module, with a maximum of four secondary variables per input channel available for use by the control system. Measurement accuracy is specified as ±0.1% of full-scale range, ensuring reliable signal acquisition for demanding industrial processes. For dependable operation in industrial environments, the AI02J incorporates 1500 V galvanic isolation between field signals and the logic circuitry, along with group isolation across all 16 channels. The module includes short-circuit protection, limiting current to 96 mA in current mode, and can detect an open circuit in less than five seconds.
